Rapidly enlarged inflammatory hepatocellular adenoma: A case report

چکیده
We present a rare case of rapidly enlarging inflamematory hepatocellular adenoma (IHCA) in a 60-yearold Japanese man. Screening abdominal computed tomography (CT) for the fatty liver patient revealed a 1.7-cm liver mass in the anterior segment of the liver. After 19 months, the lesion had rapidly enlarged to 6 cm in diameter and the patient was referred to our hospital. On perflubutane microbubble contrast-enhanced ultrasonography, the tumor showed a characteristic centripetal filling pattern in the vascular phase. We performed hepatic anterior segment resection because we could not rule out malignant tumor. Histopathological examination showed hyperplasia of mildly atypical hepatocytes and sinusoidal dilatation with marked inflammatory cell infiltration. Immunohistological staining revealed positive staining for serum amyloid A and C-reactive protein; therefore, we diagnosed this tumor as IHCA. The patient remains alive 42 months after operation without evidence of recurrence.

To our knowledge, this is the firs...
متن کاملCase of telangiectatic/inflammatory hepatocellular adenoma arising in a patient with primary sclerosing cholangitis.
Hepatocellular adenomas (HCA) have been recently identified as a heterogeneous group, differing based on genotypic as well as morphological characteristics. HCA are most frequently found in women on oral contraception. A type of HCA, inflammatory HCA, is also known as telangiectatic HCA and was previously referred to as telangiectatic focal nodular hyperplasia. We present the first case of HCA ...
متن کاملImmunohistochemistery Study in a Case of Neph-rogenic Adenoma of Bladder
Nephrogenic adenoma is a rare benign lesion of bladder that may be confused with malignant lesions. There is a strong relation with urinary tract irritation and intravesicle instrumentations. Nephrogenic adenoma was initially thought to originate from urothelial metaplasia; however, no solid proof is available. We present a case of 55-year-old lady with urinary problem. Cystocopic examination ...
متن کاملHepatocellular carcinoma arising in a telangiectatic hepatocellular adenoma.
Telangiectatic hepatocellular adenoma is a rare, recently recognized subtype of benign liver tumor that may very rarely undergo transformation into hepatocellular carcinoma. We report an unusual case of a 75-year-old woman with no history of oral contraceptive use that underwent malignant transformation of a telangiectactic hepatocellular adenoma. No risk factors for adenoma development were id...
متن کاملPigmented hepatocellular adenoma with β-catenin activation: case report and literature review.
Hepatocellular adenomas (HCAs) are benign liver tumors recently characterized into 4 different types according to genetic, pathological and clinical features. The prognosis is not well established yet and malignant transformation has been recently associated with β-catenin activation. We aimed to describe a case of a pigmented HCA with β-catenin nuclear expression and inflammatory features and...
